Www.ArthurTCPASettlement.com – Sallie Mae New Amended Class Action Lawsuit Settlement
You can get information on the Sallie Mae New Amended Class Action Lawsuit Settlement agreement at the www.ArthurTCPASettlement.com website. This is an amended settlement as this was filed or first reported in October 2010. The agreement reached by Sally Mae is an additional $4.65 million. This will cover your claims if you are a part of this, you will get some of the money.
If you remember, Sallie Mae had initially agreed to settle for $19.5 million which said that the company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act or also known as TCPA. It did this by sending a pre-recorded phone call to the cell phone customers without asking them if this was okay to do. You are considered a part of that if you got the automated phone call from October 27, 2005 to September 14, 2010. This original settlement did not allow those who had not paid their loans for 180 days or more to take part. The good news is that now with the new agreement, all those who could not take part before can now do so at the www.ArthurTCPASettlement.com website.
So if you were not eligible to get payment before, now you can submit a claim form by August 31, 2012 in order to get compensation. An address is listed at the site where you can send your claim form to. Do not miss this deadline. You can decide not to take part in this even if you are eligible. The only way you can do this is to submit a written request by July 3, 2012. If you wish to object but still take part, you can also do this. Your deadline for objection is July 3, 2012. Again do not miss this deadline as you will not be able to object otherwise. You can send your objection to either the Court, the Class Counsel or the Defense Counsel. You can even object to the Attorney’s fees and costs if you wish.
If you have submitted a request to be excluded in the original settlement, you can also revoke it now. The deadline for this is also July 3, 2012. If at any point, you are not sure about any of these deadlines, there is a toll free number that you can call. There is also an email address where you can submit your questions to. So please do use either of these services so that you will be able to make the decision that is right for you. The Fairness Hearing is on September 14, 2012. This will be at 1:30 p.m.
If you have already submitted a claim form in the initial settlement, you do not need to submit another form. You only need to submit a claim form if you did not do so before. You must submit it to the claims administrator by the due date mentioned above. If you decide not to do anything and you have not submitted a claim form before this, you will not get anything at all. So please make sure you know what you want to do.
The Sallie Mae New Amended Class Action Lawsuit Settlement was originally also known as Arthur, et al. v. Sallie Mae, Inc. There was a lot of hype about this as many people were not happy with the lender for sending these unsolicited automated phone calls. I hate these automated calls and I seem to be getting more and more of them these days. Most of them are political phone calls. Seriously. I do not want to vote for someone who does not even have the decency to talk to me in person.
In addition I am also getting a lot of unsolicited text messages. I do not know how or why but I get many text messages asking me to take part in surveys for great gifts or to get free gifts. Right! And the only way to get rid of them is to text STOP. Unfortunately that does not really stop them. They just get a new number and start again. This is terrible. Sounds like there is a class action here somewhere. Sorry I digress. I just get so upset at these companies. So if Sallie Mae did this to you, I suggest that you do take part and get compensation for the unsolicited phone calls. Make sure that you download the claim form from the settlement website. After all, you have nothing to lose.
