Walgreens.com/HealthcareReform – Walgreens Healthcare Reform

If you are wondering about the Affordable Care Act (also referred to by some as Obamacare), then you might turn to Walgreens.com/HealthcareReform to learn more about ACA and open enrollment.  For example, you can learn a lot of things from this resource.  I did not know that starting January 1, 2014, most Americans have to have health insurance. I also learned that you can get insurance even if you have pre-existing conditions.  That was wonderful news, as I have been turned down in the past for health insurance. The funny thing was that I was turned down for health insurance because of a prescription I took many years ago and was no longer on.   Luckily, I eventually got a job and was able to get on my employer’s healthcare plan.  Another thing that I found interesting on the Walgreens Healthcare Reform page was that they listed an open enrollment period.  When I first heard about the Affordable Care Act, or what some call Obamacare, I just thought you got it.  I never dreamed that you would have sign up for it.  It also appears, from what I have learned, that you might be eligible for a tax credit if you are in such a financial position as to qualify for it.

I really feel it is important to read and be knowledgeable on this information.  For example, had I not read the materials on the walgreens.com/healthcarereform site, I wouldn’t have not known about the open enrollment dates they posted.  They also appear to provide a way to communicate with someone affiliated with GoHealth who, from what I understand, can help you compare health insurance plans.  Now I don’t know if this is true or not, but my friend thought that under Obamacare, if you don’t get health insurance, you can be fined. She also mentioned that she thought new positions called healthcare navigators were being created by the government to help people navigate the process.   Personally, after reading the page that Walgreens has set up, I feel I know all I need to for the time being.  If you were in the dark on this topic like I was, I would definitely consider you spend some time reviewing the pertinent materials.

Personally, I like that they had the Walgreens.com Healthcare Reform page set up to facilitate talking to a GoHealth representative.  Another thing I like is that it appears that it is free to work with one of those representatives.  To me, this page shows in my opinion that Walgreens really cares about their customers.  This is just one of the reasons as to why I am loyal to them for my prescriptions. Walgreens store locations always seem to be nearby me and their employees are always very friendly and extremely helpful.  In addition, they carry the products I am looking for.  I even enjoy the fact that they have some 24 hour locations.  You never know when you might need sundries or prescriptions in the middle of the night.  This is especially true if you have an ill baby or child.

Additionally, another item I appreciate about the www.walgreens.com/healthcarereform page is that they have a section that appears to help you determine if you are eligible for financial assistance under the Affordable Care Act.  So if I were you, I would mark your calendars for the start of Obamacare open enrollment as I call it. They also provide access to some wonderful basics on health insurance as well.  In fact, you might want to look at the dates they have posted that give a guideline as to when you enroll and when coverage begins.  I remember lots of time without insurance I would pray that I didn’t get seriously ill.  In fact, one time I fell and was concerned that I had broken my ankle.  I did end up going to a quick care location and they did an X-ray and it wasn’t.  I was so relieved because I’m sure all the costs to cast it would have been formidable to me.  Even though I didn’t have a break, I still had a big bill for those services and I wish I would have had health insurance coverage to pick up some of the expenses.  Thus, if you are one of the millions of people out there who don’t have health insurance, you will most likely want to enroll during the Affordable Care Act open enrollment period that starts in about a week.  My friend on the other hand is one of those people who doesn’t like this government program.  She tells me that she made the decision not to buy health insurance and she does not feel that should should be forced to buy it or penalized for not buying it. As she sees it, she is healthy and can better utilize the limited money she has to spend on her family.  In fact, she said that the amount of money she is going to have to pay could be better used for her tuition at the local community college.  There are differing opinions on this matter and I am refraining from judgment until it is implemented.  I’m just glad that the Walgreens Healthcare Reform page helped me better understand some things. It’s a great place to start in my opinion.
