Most of us work hard during the day at our regular jobs. However, many still find it difficult to make ends meets. There are some easy ways that you can make an extra income of $1,000 or more each month. So what is the secret? Do you need to get a second job? I just shudder to even think of it. So how else can you make some extra income without flipping burgers? The first way is to look around your house for something to sell on Craigslist. You will be surprised at how many things that you will find that you no longer use. The only question that you have to answer is are you willing to part with that item. That usually is my biggest hurdle. I cannot seem able to part with something that I have not touched for years. Maybe you can give yourself a time limit. For example, if it is an item that you have not used for 5 years, then it should definitely go.

Secondly, how about flipping items on Craigslist. I know you have heard of flipping houses but this is much more affordable. Keep looking through Craigslist in your area for items that are being sold way cheaper than they should be. You can buy these items and then resell them for a higher price. You will be amazed at how quickly you can make money this way.

If you have great ideas but do not have the funds to start your own company or business, try a website called Kickstarter. It does not matter what kind of project you have. It can be games, or music or art or technology. It also does not matter how big or small your project is. So if you have a project, what you do is set a goal for how much you need and then you set a deadline. If people get to the website and read about your project and they like what you want to do, they can pledge money to help you. However, remember that this is just a pledge. You will have to reach your goal within your deadline in order to get all the money. So far, about 44% of projects have been funded this way. You may get lucky too.

Another great way that you can make money is to do something that you love and change it into a business. For example if you like hiking, then you can maybe put together hiking packages. Get a website or through word of mouth get people to sign up for short hiking tours. Eventually you can convert this into a company. This may take some time but eventually this could turn into your full time job.

Another great way that you can make money is to rent out a room in your house. In fact there is a website that you can go to where you can advertise your place. You will be able to list your space here and people who are looking for a place to stay may just rent your place. This place is known as airbnb.com. You will have to enter some property details. Make sure you describe the place well so that people know exactly what they are getting. Also take some great pictures as the pictures will be what people will use to judge your space. I looked at a few places and was fascinated with the locations and the reviews. So if you have a great room in a great location, this just might be a place you can advertise for daily rentals.

A colleague of mind is retiring at the end of the month. He is flying by the seat of his pants because he does not have another job lined up and is not sure if he can live off his retirement. When I talked to him, he mentioned that he was thinking about freelancing. I think that is a great idea and something that you can look into if you wish to make some extra money. If you have a skill that others can use, then you should freelance. I think one that would be a big hit is a personal cook. In fact I am looking for one myself. I find that when I come home from work, the last thing I want to do is cook. So that would definitely come in handy.

WellsFargo.com/Conversations – Start Your Financial Planning

The importance of having a conversation in regard to your financial planning is reflected in other past events chronicled on WellsFargo.com/conversations.  Without that initial conversation, you might not get headed down the path you need to be for planning your retirement. Some people may not pursue such matters because they are merely avoiding it.  Others might not feel they can have a financial planning conversations because they don’t know with whom to talk.  As I see it, that is the point of the Wells Fargo Conversations resource.  It shows me that there are people at Wells Fargo that can help me have that conversation.  More importantly, I see that if others didn’t start those all important conversations, they might not have had the success that we now attribute to them.  Reluctantly, I must admit that I am an avoider when it comes to financial planning and wealth management.  I don’t know much about stocks or bonds or annuities, but I know I need to save for my future.  Many nights, after looking over my savings, I worry that I won’t have enough to live on when I retire.  In fact, I worry that I might never be able to retire.  More worrisome than that is that a safety net of funds might not be there if I can no longer work after I have reached retirement age.

To get inspired I viewed some of the historical moments noted on the Wells Fargo Conversations page.  They brought a smile to my face and, perhaps, they will do the same for you.  You can view them on the wellsfargo.com/conversations site. You first might watch the video posted there.  It was really fun seeing historical greats such as the Wright brothers and Jane Goodall documented there.  There work is long lasting and significant.  In regard to conversations, I wish I was there when the Wright brothers were having theirs.  I had to laugh to myself that some people probably thought they were crazy.  Nevertheless, their dream had to start by discussing it.  If you need to build a financial future, you will also most likely need to discuss it with someone too.  To make this endeavor as easy as possible, a toll free number is provided to contact a banker.  Furthermore, a Wells Fargo location finder is also available to identify one near you.  That is one of the things I appreciate about Wells Fargo.  There always seems to be one close by in my neighborhood when I need one.

You will also enjoy the wellsfargo.com conversations story on Lucille Ball.   The achievement that she had also had to start at sometime with a conversation.  Most people might not know what all the show contributed to history, so a few minutes reading it might surprise and inform you.  For example, Lucy was seen pregnant on tv and she was one of the first.  Now having a child is definitely one reason to think more seriously about a solid financial future.  You are going to want to give him or her everything you can and you will need to provide for yourself.  You might think that saving for retirement might be even more challenging when you are paying for clothes, braces, and schooling for them.  Hence, to me, that signals an even more important reason to have a discussion about what to do with your money and how to plan for your future.  My neighbor has not done a good job planning for her retirement and I worry about her.  It is sad to see someone struggle when they are a senior citizen on a fixed income.  While I don’t know all of her circumstances, it does reinforce the need to plan for the days that are coming down the road of life. I believe that the sooner you take action, the better it can be.

One way to take action, as I view, it is to call a wells fargo representative to start asking questions. Now is a great time to seek out a financial planner in my opinion.  You can find a phone number to call a banker on the www.wellsfargo.com/conversations page.  If you think saving for your future is going to be difficult now, think about trying to start the process twenty years from now.  It is so easy to procrastinate and to forget to do that.  However, I think you will be glad you started retirement planning early.  I once entered my information into a retirement calculator to see how much I would need to have to live on.  The amount of money I needed to save up was astronomical.  However, that exercise backfired when I tried it on my own, because it made me run away from the situation scared.  It is now time for me to take action and contact Wells Fargo for a conversation about my future finances.

How To Make Money Recycling Scrap Metal

Many people these days recycle. We usually recycle things like newspapers, paper, plastic bottles, cardboard containers. Some even recycle clothes by sending them to thrift shops and other charities and places like Goodwill. However, very few people think about recycling scarp metal. Did you know that you can even make money recycling scrap metal? Now some of you may even be wondering what is meant by scrap metal. Scrap metal is in fact any metal that is left over from jobs that you or others may have done. These will include copper, iron, aluminum and steel. You can also include brass and wires too.

It is amazing that many people will just throw out these pieces of scrap metal not thinking for a second that they could make money from what they are throwing away. If you can not only keep the earth green by doing this type of recycling but you can also put some green in your pocket. So the first thing you need to do is figure out where you can find scrap metal. First of all you will need a truck to put the scrap metal in. Next you need to load it up with scrap metal. Where would you even find them?

One suggestion is to put out flyers in your neighborhood telling your neighbors that you would be happy to haul away their junk for free. Always look for some metal pieces in their junk. You may just be surprised at how many people may want to get rid of some old exercise equipment or bicycle or lamps that they no longer need. They would love it if you were to take it off their hands. So that is a good start. Another way you can get some scrap metal is to go to the home improvement stores and asking them if they have any scraps left over that nobody wants. They may even be able to sell them to you for really cheap.

You can also look around construction sites. There are many pieces that you may be allowed to take but do ask permission. You do not want to be accused of stealing. They may even be using what you thought was scrap metal. You can also scout around on Craigslist to see if anyone wants to get rid of junk. Also go to machine shops. There may be lots of left over pieces that may be too small to be made use of. Ask the shop owners if you can have them for free or for a small price. You can even go to the junkyards to look for the scrap metals. You may be surprised at what you find. You can even use wires. You will just have to get rid of the plastic outer layer to get to the metal.

The next step is to sell the scrap metal that you have found. So where do you go to sell scrap metal? You can go to a scrap yard that is close to you. Most of these places take scrap metal from construction companies, plumbers and even other industries. However, you can still sell your scrap metal to them even though you are not affiliated with a company. One good thing to do when you go to the scrap yards to sell your scrap metal is to separate the ferrous metals from the non-ferrous metals. So what is the difference? Get a magnet and you will be able to separate the piles quickly and easily.

Anything that is magnetic is considered ferrous. If you do not have a magnet, look on your refrigerator door. Anything that you find sticking to that door is a magnet. You may have a magnetic business card there that you may be able to use. I know that I have tons of magnets on my refrigerator door.  So if the magnet does not stick then it is considered non-ferrous.

It is also a good thing to call the scrap yard before going there. They may not take certain metals and you should find that out so that you can remove the metals from your two piles. If you do not know what your metals are, there is an easy way to figure it out. Just look at the color. Copper is of course reddish in color. Copper will bring you the most money. Aluminum is silverish in color. Some gutters and siding are aluminum. Brass is of course yellowish in color. Keys and door handles can be made of brass.  Steel is silverish and magnetic. It can also be rusty. Once you have done this, you are ready to make money recycling your scrap metal. The more you have the more money you will make.

AllState.com/Goodlife – Allstate Good Life – Incredible Perks

Live the good life by enjoying the great perks and videos on Allstate.com/goodlife.  In addition to the perks, there is also helpful advice for your home and auto too.  The videos by Carter Oosterhouse on the Allstate Good Life resource are also very enlightening.  These items definitely underscore a reason to be an Allstate client.  I especially appreciate the videos that you find there and I have learned so much.  One video teaches you how to hang the mirror.  Prior to watching this, I never knew how to hang stuff up. I would just arbitrarily hammer nails in to the wall.  If I didn’t get it right the first time, I would try again.   I also wondered why the nail wouldn’t hold the object either.  Many times, it would come crashing down to the ground and break. But in a brief time, I learned a lot of from the Allstate Good Life video.  I learned how to measure properly and a good safety lesson too.  If you feel inadequate about things around the car or house, spend some time learning from the best.  With the tips and knowledge available, I feel I can spend more time living the good life and less time worrying. 

You will be amazed at the educational material found there.  For example, another important section that caught my attention was in regard to deck safety.  By viewing the insightful allstate.com/goodlife site, I learned things I should look for on decks to be safe.  I also learned ways to conceivably help prevent auto theft and to get a truck out of the mud.  In fact, if items of this nature were to ever come up in conversation, my friends would be the last people to look at me for answers.  However, after viewing and reading the content, I feel like I have a renewed self confidence. As a result, I feel truly empowered. In fact, I made some changes because of what I learned.  One thing that I was oblivious to was the need to have an escape ladder under my bed.  I guess I always assumed that I would just go out the hall and down the stairs.  However, if there is a fire, the window might be the only route to get out.  As a result, that could be a long jump to safety.  However, with a ladder under the bed, one can definitely sleep more sound knowing that you have thought about it and have a plan. 

One would also be wise to examine the perks listed on the goodlife.allstate.com page.  There are many potentially available that could be of interest.  From security, to your lawn, to storage, a plethora of wonderful perks are documented.  When you get insurance, I think we all want to get a little something more with our policy.  In my opinion, the perks and educational material presented on the Allstate Good Life site goes well beyond that.  After watching several of the videos, I feel like I attended many of the great community classes that my local school offers.  The best part is that I was able to watch them at no charge.  I also feel that the tips I learned could be a life saver.  For example, I especially appreciated the tip to replace my batteries on my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  This is such an important thing to do, but if you are like me, you forget to do it on a regular basis.  However, by incorporating it into your cleaning routine, you might now be better prepared.  I’m going to change mine every time I do my spring and fall cleaning. 

The tools sections on the www.allstate.com/goodlife page may also prove enlightening for you.  One of the tools helps you identify nearby gas prices.  I am big on comparison shopping cause I always like to save a little.  I never did that with gas because I always felt I spent more money driving from station to station than I would save just by stopping when I needed it. But now it looks like this tool may make me more informed.  Another fascinating tool that caught my attention on the Allstate Good Life site was the tool that let you know what claims are considered the most common ones to your area.  This information, as I see it, can help me make better coverage decisions when looking at home owners insurance.  They even have  a section dedicated to answering home owners insurance questions. What I liked best about this section is that I found insurance terms explained clearly.  For example, I was not exactly sure how an insurance deductible worked.  However, after reading about it in the aforementioned section, I had no more questions. Allstate Insurance, in my opinion, does make life good in so many ways.
