You can get the Best Western Rewards Card when you join the program at the www.bestwestern.com/rewards site. You do not have to pay anything to get this card. So basically this means that you can start earning points immediately as soon as you join. It does not take long at all to join. There are more than 4,000 hotels that you can stay at all over the world.

Right now if you join, you can get a $50 gift card. The condition for getting this is to stay 3 different times at one of the hotels in the program. This can be any time  from April 22, 2013 to June 9, 2013.  All you have to do is register at the Best Western Rewards Card or program website at www.bestwestern.com/rewards. You will have to enter your email address. You can also enter your membership number if you are already the Best Western Rewards member. If you are not one yet and would like to join, you can do that first. As soon as you register, you will be automatically entered for the offer. So this is really simple. In order to get started, you can also look for hotels that you want to stay at.

There are some simple ways that you can earn points. One of them is through the Credit Card program. These include the American Express, Diners Club and MasterCard. There are two separate MasterCard options. One of them is for U.S. Residents and the second is for Canadian Residents. There are also some airlines partners where you can start earning points. You will get airline miles. You will get 600 points if you book your travel on Southwest Airlines. You will also get 500 miles if you book your flight on Lufthansa. In addition, booking via AIR MILES will get you 20 reward miles. If you book with anyone else, you will get 250 miles. This is great because you will earn no matter which airlines you book with. I like this very much. I hate the fact that some reward programs only let you book flights on only some airlines. This becomes a challenge for me because the cheaper fares may not be on those flights that are in the program.

Other ways of earning point is to use Budget or AVIS rentals. With Budget you can save 30%. In addition you will be able to get 2500 points for using this. If you use AVIS, you will get 3,000 bonus points. You will be able to save 25%. This is good. You may not get the total amount of bonus points mentioned here but you can certainly strive to get the max. I am always looking for a great bargain when it comes to renting cars. Somehow, I always get sticker shock when I see the final amount. When I first see the rental rate, I think that it would work. But somehow, there are always fees that are added. And then there is insurance of course. I always get insurance. And you will be surprised how many times I have had to use it. Yes, I did get involved in accidents. Not my fault either. I keep getting rear ended when I am completely stopped at a traffic light. I do not know why it always happens to me. So I always make sure that I get insurance. And that adds up quickly. So any discounts that I can get, I usually go for. You can get more detailed information at the website. 

In addition to renting cars at Budget and AVIS, you can also earn points with FTD. I know I am always sending someone something for special occasions. Flowers are very easy to give. I usually Google for cheap flowers. However, sometimes I am able to get them at discounted prices and at other times I do not. So knowing that if I have a Best Western Rewards Card, I can always get a discount in the form of points earned is a good feeling indeed. And yes, I am applying for this card. With so many great features, I really can’t resist.  You can actually earn 2,000 point for every single purchase. How can you lose? If you like wine, then you will be excited at the opportunity to get 12,500 points if you buy 6 wines at the Vinesse Wine Clubs. The prices are really reasonable too. Haier Freezer Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

The original lawsuit is Christopher Collins, et al. v. Haier America Trading LLC, et al. The amount of the Haier Freezer Class Action Lawsuit Settlement is $3 million. The reason for the lawsuit is that the company’s freezers used too much power. It is in fact twice the allowed amount. So the charge is that the company sold these freezers illegally because they actually did not meet the federal standards. These are the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act standards.

The freezers were also labeled as being compliant to the standards. So the consumers who bought them were the ones who ended up paying huge energy bills because they were actually not compliant. That is why the plaintiffs filed the original lawsuit. I can’t believe this actually happened. How can a company get away with it? Well actually they are not getting away with it. However $3 million is not much. Wonder how much profit they made from selling all those freezers. I feel like this is just a slap on the hand. The company of course has denied that it did anything wrong. In some cases like this, I can see how the company may just want to move on by settling the case.

However, this one is different. For the company to not even admit that they did anything wrong is so wrong. I am glad that they are finally being made to pay. So if you bought the Haier HNCM070E freezer, then you may be eligible to get some money. You can get anywhere from $50 to $325 for each freezer. So this means that if you bought more than one of these freezers, you will  be able to claim for both.

The settlement has not been approved yet. As such there is no information yet on how to file a claim form. The amount you get depends on how many people file a claim form. Or I should say how many people actually filed a valid claim form. Once there is a website for this case, you will be able to get all the information that you need there. There is nothing worse than having your claim denied because you filed after the due date. Since there is no due date yet, I would suggest that you keep checking the internet for the website. You definitely do not want to miss this opportunity to get some money back. You seldom get that chance and when there is one, you should take the trouble of filling out the claim forms. I know that it is sometimes very difficult to do this. We all want to get money for defective products that we buy but none of us likes filling out claim forms. There may be a few people out there who love doing this. I certainly do not. I hate having to fill out these forms. I am most happy when they are short and sweet. Sometimes they can be long and complicated though. I especially hate those where you have to submit proof that you bought that product. That drives me up the wall because I may have bought the product a year or two ago. Who keeps receipts for that long? And who has the patience to look through bank statements to find proof?

If you are not so lucky, you will have to submit your claim form via regular mail. I hate doing that because then I have to go find an envelope and write out the address. And then I have to go digging for a stamp. And guess what? If I do not find a stamp, I will end up having to drive to the post office. Not fun at all. I would rather just fill it out online. All you have to do is click the submit button and you are done.
