Www.SongBeverlySettlement.com – Coach Store Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

If you bought anything from the Coach store between February 15, 2010 to February 29, 2012  and you were asked for personal identification information when you used either a credit or debit card, then you can take part in the Coach Store Class Action Lawsuit Settlement at the www.SongBeverlySettlement.com site.  The original lawsuit was Coach, Inc. Song-Beverly Cases. Apparently Coach violated California law by asking the customers who bought from their stores their email addresses or their address or even their phone numbers.

If you are eligible to take part in the Coach Store Class Action Lawsuit Settlement, you will get sent a settlement voucher automatically. Coach will actually send out the vouchers to all those who are in their databases. You will get a voucher for 30% off for any future purchase that you make at the store. If you feel that you did buy products at the store during the class period but you did not get a voucher, then you can contact the settlement administrator at www.SongBeverlySettlement.com.

The case has gotten final approval and the Court has overruled all objections for this settlement. Objections can be stated at the Final Fairness hearing. However because there were objections, you will not be able to use the discount vouchers that you received in the mail. You may have to wait up to 60 days or even more before you can use them. So this means that right now these discount vouchers are not valid. You can continue to check the settlement website to find out when the vouchers will become valid for use. So make sure that you put the vouchers in a safe place that you will be able to find easily. This is where I run into trouble because I can never find anything. I now that I put them somewhere but I do not know where they are when I need to use them.

The plaintiffs in this case will get up to $3,000. The plaintiffs are Diana Leiter, Theresa Olivero, Rita Medelin, Edita Davtyan and Tanya Clausen. they will get more than anyone else because they were the ones who filed the lawsuits and they were the ones who explained what happened and why they were filing the lawsuit. The class counsel who are the attorneys provided by the court to help you will also receive a set amount. In this case they will get up to $225,000. However, the amount paid to the plaintiffs and the amount paid to the lawyers will not affect what you get. The amounts are separate from the amount set aside for you.

You do have some legal rights in this case. Even though you can no longer object to the settlement or even exclude yourself from the settlement, you can still have the right to ask that your personal information be removed from Coach’s database. I would think that this would happen automatically because of the lawsuit but apparently not. So make sure that you ask Coach to remove that data. You can do this by writing in your request to the Settlement Administrator. You can find the address at the website under Contact Us.

Once the discount vouchers become valid for use, you will only be able to use them for in-store purchases. You will not be able to use these vouchers if you shop at their store online. You will also not be able to use these vouchers if you phone in your order. These vouchers can also be used in Coach stores in California only. You cannot use them in Coach stores anywhere else in the United States. You have to keep checking to find out when they become valid for use because they have an expiration date. Basically the vouchers will expire 6 months from when they become valid. So make sure that you use the vouchers before then. In addition, you will only be able to use the vouchers in one transaction. So this means that you will not be able to get any change from the use of the vouchers if what you buy is less than the value of the voucher. Also whatever is left over will be considered lost because you will not be able to use the voucher again. So make sure that whatever you buy is valued more than the voucher.
